Position Summary

A leading organization in the motion control and electronics manufacturing industry is seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Quality Component Engineer to support product quality and reliability across the component lifecycle.

This role serves as a key link between engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers-driving component-level quality, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. The position combines hands-on engineering analysis with cross-functional collaboration to ensure high standards of safety, performance, and compliance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead component quality activities across the product lifecycle, including selection, qualification, and field performance
  • Perform risk assessments related to obsolescence, variability, and supply chain stability
  • Drive DFMEA and PFMEA initiatives in collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Support process validation activities (IQ / OQ / PQ) for components, processes, and suppliers
  • Partner with design engineering to evaluate component changes, substitutions, and deviations
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues using structured methodologies (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone)
  • Conduct supplier evaluations and define incoming inspection criteria for critical components
  • Monitor and analyze key quality metrics (yield, DPPM, failure trends) to drive improvements
  • Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System; support audits and compliance efforts
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Field teams
  • Support functional safety efforts and promote risk-based thinking across engineering processes

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or product development environment (electronics preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with FMEA, risk analysis, and process validation
  • Knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 9001:2015, IPC, and component qualification practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in structured methodologies
  • Experience working with ERP/PLM systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics or similar tools)
  • Excellent communication, organization, and attention to detail

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with functional safety standards and verification approaches
  • Experience with electronic and electromechanical component qualification
  • Background working with suppliers and contract manufacturers
  • Exposure to reliability engineering or failure analysis

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday-Friday
  • Based in a Camarillo, CA manufacturing environment
  • Occasional extended hours as required
  • Ability to perform basic physical activities (standing, walking, lifting up to 25 lbs)

Compliance Requirement

This role is subject to U.S. export control regulations (ITAR). Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents.


Compensation

$80,000 - $110,000 annually
Compensation is based on experience, skills, and market factors.
